EXAMS AND VACCINATIONS
Regular physical exams are essential for maintaining your pet’s health. Annual exams, paired with vaccinations, keep your animals protected against illness and allow us to catch potential issues before they become more serious.
Additionally, physical exams are an important part of diagnosing problems when your pet is sick, injured, or as a part of a surgical consultation to determine the best course of treatment. Our goal is to keep your pet feeling their best, and regular check-ups play a key role in achieving that!
VACCINATIONS
Annual vaccinations are crucial for maintaining your pet's overall health by creating an immunity against various diseases. Investing in preventive care not only enhances your pet’s quality of life but can also save you money in the long run by avoiding costly treatment. Below are our recommendations for what vaccinations to give and when.

For puppies and kittens, initial vaccinations start at 6 to 8 weeks, followed by boosters every 3-4 weeks until 12 to 16 weeks. Once they’ve completed their puppy or kitten shots, adult dogs and cats only need yearly vaccinations.
The core vaccinations we recommend for dogs is DHPPC & Rabies. Additional vaccinations you might consider are:
-
Bordetella vaccine protects against kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory disease. If you plan to board, groom, or regularly have your dog around other dogs, like at a dog park, it is especially important to add this to the core vaccinations. Many groomers and boarding facilities require dogs to be up to date on their vaccinations, including bordetella before rendering services.
-
Rattlesnake vaccine might be considered if the dog is regularly taken hiking or hunting in areas prone to rattlesnakes.

The core vaccinations we recommend for cats are CVRCP & Rabies.
An additional vaccination you might consider is for feline leukemia. Cats that spend time outdoors or who interact with other cats, should get vaccinated for feline leukemia.

DHPPC – Distemper, Hepatitis, Para-Influenza, Parvo Virus, Corona Virus
CVRCP – Calicivirus (Resp.), Viral Rhinotracheitis (Influenza), Chlamydia, Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper)
